Tanager track teams at Howard Wood Relays

The Tanager track and field teams entered the annual Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls on May 5 and 6, with more than 2,000 high school athletes.

In the girls' division, Alicia Brown placed second in the special event 200M dash, with a Tanager school record time of 25.16 seconds (state qualified).

Nicole Orr placed second in the 300M hurdles (46.53 � state qualified) and eighth in the 100M hurdles (state qualified in semis � 15.57).

The girls' 4x200M relay team (Orr, Brittney Babb, Annie Roche, and Brown) placed seventh with a state qualifying time of 1:47.35. The same foursome placed seventh in the 4x400M.

In the boys' division, the sprint medley relay team did not place but claimed a state qualified time of 3:46.47 (Andrew Pier, Jerrod Freidel, Ryan Powell, and Broc Gauer).

The following have already qualified for the state meet:

Dashes: Alicia Brown (100M � 12.40, 200M � 25.17, 400M � 58.40); Ryan Powell (400M � 51.70).

Hurdles: Nicole Orr (100M � 15.40, 300M � 46.30.

High jump: Bobby Dykstra (6'4").

Relays: Girls' (4x100M � 52.10, 4x200M � 1:47.2, 4x400M � 4:07.6); Boys' (1600M sprint medley � 3:46.4). Participants in the relay teams are determined pending changes due to injuries or other conflicts in their schedules.
