USD Children's Theatre to host children's play
In their first collaboration, the Children's Theatre Company of South Dakota and the College of Fine Arts at the University of South Dakota will present Marlo Thomas' delightful children's classic Free to Be…You and Me Sunday, May 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and May 15 and 16 at 10 a.m. in the Wayne S. Knutson Theatre in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts.

Free to Be ? You and Me challenges stereotypes and honors and accepts the uniqueness of everyone. This production is a celebration of diversity, hope, love and community. These life-enhancing themes blend with music and humor to expand children's horizons, enabling them to invent their own futures without limitation, while dispelling some old constraints and worn-out conventions in the process.

With such heartwarming songs as It's Alright to Cry, Parents Are People,"and Glad to Have a Friend Like You, this show has something for the free spirit in every adult and something for the wise soul in every child. It encourages everyone ? "to be."


Free to Be ? You and Me features a talented cast that includes Miles Brindley, Erin Conlon, Emily Johnson and Dan Workman, with an equally talented production team of Anna Winter as set and costume designer, Anthony Burbach as music director, Deb Workman as choreographer, and Rusty Ruth as co-director with Dan Workman.

Tickets to Free to Be ? You and Me are $5 for the general public and $3 for USD students with valid ID. Reservations can be made by calling the University Theatre box office at 677-5400 or by stopping by the box office in the afternoons beginning May 10.
