USD's Hagemann signs contract with Super Bowl champions
Nick Hagemann, a 6' 7", 300-pound offensive tackle on the Coyote football team, signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers April 30.

"Nick (Hagemann) is an outstanding offensive tackle, who had a great career at South Dakota," said USD head football coach Ed Meierkort. "He has earned his way onto an NFL roster because of his strong work ethic, leadership skills and dedicated effort to the team. The coaching staff, his teammates and the University are proud of Nick."

Hagemann, a three-year starter for the Coyotes, was named second-team All-North Central Conference, a member of the D2foot All-Northwest Region team and the Football Gazette All Northwest Region Team. He was also selected Academic All-NCC in 2004.

Originally of New Vienna, IA, Hagemann played a key role as the Coyote offense set numerous offensive records.

Hagemann earned the Jim Langer Award as the Offensive Lineman of the Game at the Cactus Bowl, the Division II all-star game which was played in Kingsville, TX, in January. A computer science major, he is the son of Jim and Deb Hagemann.
