Out of 14 businesses that were checked, only Pump 'N Stuff, made an unlawful sale. This is a significant improvement over the previous check conducted in March, in which seven out of 14 businesses failed. Pump 'N Stuff also failed the March compliance check.
"Although our goal is 100 percent compliance, we are very pleased with the significant increase during this check," said Vermillion Police Chief Art Mabry. "It demonstrates that our businesses are addressing the issue and alcohol compliance checks work."

Mabry said the police department will continue to randomly conduct alcohol compliance checks in conjunction with other enforcement and education efforts to reduce the frequency of underage drinking in Vermillion.
Businesses that passed the check are Casey's General Store, Choice Pharmacy, Comfort Inn, Coyote Convenience, Freedom Valu Center, Gas Stop, Hy-Vee, Jones' Food Store, Pamida, Pump 'N Pak, Speedee Mart, Vermillion Liquor Store and Wal-Mart.
