They have demonstrated an eagerness for academic and extra-curricular excellence. Each will receive a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust in Vermillion.
Babb "is a student who constantly challenges herself and is always striving to do better in all she undertakes," according to her faculty endorsement. She has been active in basketball, S.A.D.D., volleyball, student council, track and National Honor Society.
Her college plans are to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in chemistry with an eventual occupation in dentistry. Her parents are Della Plume and Fred Babb.
O'Connor has an abundance of experiences including show choir, marching band, 4-H, volleyball manager, the musical, and a legislative page. Her endorsement indicated that "she sets her goals high. She is ready and willing to do what it takes to succeed."
Black Hills State University in Spearfish is included in her college goals with a major in early childhood special education. Her parents are Larry and Rennae O'Connor.
Previous award winners in this academic year were Paige Prosser and Chris Merrigan � September, Matthew Sand and Jennie Bellis � October, Tricia Merrigan and Kyle Brunick � November, Raleigh Tiahrt and Breean Solberg � December, Anna Geis and Johney Tsai � January, Donny Stewart and Brittany Campbell � February, and Shelli Knutson and Nicole Orr � March.
Other VHS seniors nominated for the award included Nancy Abbott, Jessica Carlier, Molly Green and Daniel Mollet.
