Wakonda announces all-school play; Performance is May 5 in small gym
Coach Dannie Petersen brings back an outstanding play cast in the all-school play, The Miss. Firecracker Contest, written by Beth Henley.

The performance will be May 5 in the small gym at Wakonda School, with curtain time at 7 p.m.

The Miss. Firecracker Contest takes place in a small town called Brookhaven, MS. The Miss. Firecracker wannabe is Carnelle Scott, a young beauty contestant, played by Katie Sokolowski.

She encounters many characters along the way, such as Popeye and Olive Jackson (Megan Book and Courtney Nelson), who are the dress seamstresses. Elain Rutledge (Adrianne Logue) is Carnelle's first cousin, who is the former Miss. Firecracker.

Another of Carnelle's close cousins is Delmount Williams (Patrick Morrison), who is also Elain's brother. He has the most problems of any of the cast.

Mac Sam (Andy Jensen) is the man who loves Carnelle. He is also known as the crazy balloon guy. Jessica Peterson is playing Tessy Mahoney, the beauty contest coordinator and ex-love interest of Delmount.

Tech people include Tasha Goeden, while make up and hair will be done by Amy Luxem and Emily Ganschow.
