The DearReader.com Book Club offers many selections to Internet patrons. Each book runs for five days, Monday through Friday. Some genres only offer selections every other week. CLAWS, PAWS, SCALES, & TALES! Get ready for this year's summer reading program at the Vermillion Public Library. Story teller Dorothy Blair is scheduled to visit on Monday, June 12 at 1:30 in the Community Room. Join us on Tuesday, June 13 for craft activities. The weekly Whiskers Reading Circle will start at 1:30 on Wednesday, June 14 with Reading Rovers on Thursday, June 15 at 3 p.m.
The Advanced Reading Program for Young Adults from sixth grade through high school is also underway. Readers in this group must individually read a minimum of 2,000 pages to receive an incentive prize and be able to enter for the grand prize. The summer goal for the entire group is 72,000 pages. If this goal is reached the entire group will enjoy a special activity on Aug. 1.
The next program, Mythological Creatures, is planned for Thursday, June 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. Learn about mythological animals that have been used throughout history and create your own special creature. Check the calendar for more special events happening during the summer.
Adults can also participate in the Summer Reading Program by reading five books between June 5 and July 28. Everyone who completes the program will be entered for a grand prize drawing.
Scrabble Scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, June 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room. Scrabble enthusiasts and amateurs are invited to participate and improve your knowledge through this enjoyable event. Extra Scrabble boards are welcome.
