The regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to Clay Post #3061 was held Tuesday evening, June 20, with President Delores Gregg presiding. Roll call of officers was taken and recorded. Chaplain Opal Smith offered the opening prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Treasurer's report was read and approved.
Correspondence included a letter from District #1 Mildred Hendricks regarding membership, schedule for inspections and state fair. Committee reports were May and June bingo playing at Vermillion Care Center, Funeral Committee, chaplain reported on sympathy card mailed, Civic Council needs one dozen cookies for July 14 for Christmas in July.
Reports were given on Hospital Equipment on Loan, Hospice, Road to Recovery, putting out and taking in flags on Memorial Day.
We donated money to Junior Achievement, W.H. Over Museum and Sioux Valley Healing Garden.
The charter was draped for Lavonne Weiland who passed away on June 9. President Delores Gregg and Secretary Barbara Kronaizl reported on the State VFW and Ladies Auxiliary Convention which they attended in Pierre. They were celebrating the 75th anniversary of the VFW.
The post and auxiliary received awards for Community Service, Youth Activities, Voice of Democracy, Patriotic Pen, Americanism, Rehabilitation and Legislative.
Dorothy Lane received a personal Americanism award. We received raffle tickets and we will mail them a check for $50 to put in the tickets in the auxiliary's name.
The meeting adjourned to reopen on Sept. 19.
