Dakota Writing Project to send members to national retreats

Five members of the Dakota Writing Project, a teachers' organization at The University of South Dakota, will attend professional writing retreats offered by the National Writing Project this summer.

To qualify to apply for these highly competitive writing retreats, teachers must have first successfully completed the four-week Dakota Writing Project Summer Invitational Institute and continued to be active teacher-leaders in the Dakota Writing Project.

Cindy Heckenlaible, an English teacher at Vermillion High School, has been accepted to attend the National Writing Project Professional Writing Retreat in Leavenworth, WA, Aug. 2-6. She will work on a professional article along with other Writing Project teachers from across the nation.
