The Vermillion School Board and the district's teaching staff has agreed to disagree on compensation issues for the 2006-07 school year.
"They (the Vermillion Education Association) simply did not accept our last best offer," Vermillion School Board President Tom Craig said.
In response, the board declared an impasse Monday. The board and VEA differ over salary levels, force reduction issues, liquidated damages and assignment and transfer.
"The teacher, administrators and board are getting along," Froke said, "but they have respectfully agreed to disagree. An impasse is a way to get the parties together."
