In the first game, Kyle Mollet was the starter and went five innings, giving up six runs (three unearned) on six hits, recording seven Ks. He was backed up by an overpowering offense which accumulated 16 runs on 16 hits, and a defense which committed only two unimportant errors.

In what might be considered "murderers row," the first five batters in the line up scored 13 runs and drove in nine, to dominate the Post #1 offense.
Leading that offense was: Mollet � 3 for 3, 2 runs, 3 RBI; Reid Meierkort � 2 for 3, 3 runs, 3 RBI; Ben Oberle � 4 for 5, 3 runs; Scott Morrison � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Jeff Donnelly � 1 for 2, 3 runs, 2 RBI; Zach Weiss (#6 in batting order) � 2 for 3, 1 run, 2 RBI.
The other runs were made by Rane Mergen and Jackson Freidel in replacement roles.
The second game featured a virtual potpourri of five Vermillion pitchers, as coach Jason Gault (along with assistants Nick Mayer and Drew Lawrence) gave their pitching staff some game condition experience in preparation for the season ahead.
They performed very well: Scott Morrison � 2 innings, 1 run, 3 hits; Jeff Donnelly � 1 inning, 1 run, 2 hits; Rane Mergen � 1 inning, 1 run, 1 hit; Zach Weiss � 2 innings, 2 runs, 2 hits; and Reid Meierkort � 1 inning, 2 runs, 2 hits.

The team record is now 2-0. Post #1 will play in the Wooden Bat Tournament June 9-11 at Prentis Park in Vermillion. The first game on Friday is at 9 a.m.
