USD names Edward Pickett as June employee of month

The University of South Dakota is pleased to announce that Edward Pickett, senior building maintenance worker, was named Career Services Employee of the Month for June. Picket received the award from Royce Engstrom, provost and vice president for academic affairs, at a gathering of Pickett's colleagues and friends on June 2.

John Banasiak of the Department of Art at USD nominated Pickett.

"Ed has for years provided the university, and in my case in particular, the photography department with great work and much appreciated solutions to difficult plumbing problems. He is very resourceful, hard working and is an asset to this university," Banasiak said.

Pickett said he was honored to receive the award and that the people he works with keep his job interesting and fulfilling.

"There is new excitement every day, and always plenty of challenges," Pickett said.

Pickett lives in Vermillion and has two children.
