The rest of the team's games were on the road. Vermillion traveled to Scotland for a single game where they came away with a 5-1 win. Harrisburg was the next stop for a double header. Vermillion won both games by a score of 17-6 and 20-5.
The Teeners then traveled to Yankton for a Friday-Saturday tourney. Vermillion's first game was a rematch with Norfolk, who had defeated Vermillion just the week before for the championship at the South Sioux City tourney.
Vermillion jumped out early by scoring two runs in the first, but were unable to keep Norfolk off the board as they allowed three runs in the first inning. After a scoreless second inning, Vermillion scored two more runs to go up 4-3, but again failed to hold them as Norfolk tied it up with one run.
The game remained tied into the seventh inning when Norfolk was able to score a run in their at bat while Vermillion stranded a runner at second in the bottom of the seventh. Norfolk 5 � Vermillion 4.
Vermillion played one of its best games of the season as they defeated the Yankton Black Sox by a score of 5-3. Yankton had a 3-1 lead after two innings, but Vermillion kept them in check the rest of the way.
Retiring 15 of the next 17 batters. Vermillion scored its second run in the fourth and tied it up with a solo out of the park line drive homer in the top of the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Vermillion plated two runs and then, facing Yankton's second, third and fourth hitters, sent them down in order for the 5-3 win.
Needing a win against Lesterville in game three to reach the championship game of the tourney and another shot at Norfolk, Vermillion stumbled and came up short, losing 7-6. That meant Vermillion would play Lesterville again for the third place, where Vermillion won again by a score of13-7.
Yankton would defeat Norfolk in the championship game. The Vermillion 15-16 season record stands at 14-8.
