Vermillion Teeners split DH with Yankton
The Vermillion Teener baseball team split a double header with the Yankton Reds on Saturday, June 3 at Prentis Park in Vermillion.

Game one was an up and down competition as Vermillion built a 6-0 lead after four innings. The fifth was a nightmare for the home team, as a wild streak at the plate, a couple of singles, and several fielding errors gave Yankton a seven-run lead toward the final 8-6 Reds' win.

Vermillion employed two pitchers in the game. Jordan Robinson went 4 2/3 innings, and was charged with the loss. Cole Andre relieved and went the final inning and one-third.

Line scores: Yankton � 8 runs, 4 hits, 3 errors, 6 lob; Vermillion � 6 runs, 8 hits, 5 errors, 10 lob.

Vermillion offensive stats: Robinson � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 rbi; Nick Anglin � 2 for 2, 1 run, 2 rbi; Josh Thin Elk � 1 for 1, 1 run; Evan Hanson � 1 for 2; and Brian Hansen � 1 for 3, 2 rbi. Cole Andre and Aaron Steele each scored a run.

Game two was a different affair with Vermillion building a 6-3 advantage after three innings and the Reds never really threatened again. Nick Anglin was the winning pitcher going the distance giving up three hits and three runs, walking four and registering four Ks.

Line sores: Vermillion � 8 runs, 8 hits, 4 errors, 6 lob; Yankton � 3 runs, 3 hits, 1 error, 8 lob

Offensively: Anglin scored 2 runs on 1 for 2 batting, with 2 rbi; Brian Hansen � 2 for 2, 1 run, 2 rbi; Cole Andre scored twice as he went 1 for 2; Aaron Steele reached base on 1 for 3 batting, scoring 1 and driving in 1; Josh Thin Elk � 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 rbi; Cody Merrigan went 1 for 1 with an rbi; Ryan Kost drove in a run on a fielder's choice; Robert Osterberg walked in a run and scored one.

The Vermillion teeners, coached by Dan Holoch, have a 1-1 record.
