Vermillion Teeners suffer two losses in one day
The Vermillion Teener baseball fell on hard times as they became victims of some very close losses against Canton (3 � 2 & 6 � 5), played in Canton on Wednesday June 7.

In game one, Vermillion scored first but Canton plated two runs. The visitors tied the score at 2 � 2. Cole Andre started and went three innings, giving up three runs on five hits, one walk and registering three Ks. He was relieved by Bennett Johnson who gave up a walk and hit batsman while striking out one.

Line scores: Canton � 3 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors, 5 lob.


Vermillion � 2 runs, 4 hits, 0 errors, 3 lob.

Vermillion offensive stats: Jordan Robinson � 2 for 2, 1 run; Brian Hansen � 1 for 2, 1 rbi; Ryan Fischbach �1 for 2, 1 run. Denny Rainroth drove in a run on a fielders choice.

Game two was more of the same with Canton taking the lead 2 � 0 in the first. Vermillion tied it in the second and, then held on as Canton took a lead before the visitors scored 3 runs in the fifth inning to take the lead 5 � 3. Unfortunately, Canton responded with three runs to end the game 6 � 5. Nick Anglin took the loss.

Line sores: Vermillion � 5 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors, 5 lob.

Canton � 6 runs, 3 hits, 0 error, 6 lob.

Offensively: Anglin scored 1 run on 1 for 3 batting; Brian Hansen � 1 for 2, 1 run; Cole Andre scored once as he was driven in by Aaron Steele � 2 for 3, 1 run; Ryan Fischbach 2 for 3, 1 run; Jordan Robinson � 2 for 3, 2 RBIs; Ryan Kost � 1 for 2, 1 RBI.

The Vermillion Teeners had a 3 � 1 record going into a double header against Lennox on June 8.
