JV Teeners go 2-2 at Yankton Tournament
The JV Teener baseball team entered the Yankton Teener Reds Invitational Tournament on Friday through Sunday, July 7-9, where they faced four very formidable foes.

Game one was a five-inning, two-hit shut out by Vermillion's Nick Anglin, 10 -0 against Norfolk.

Line scores: Norfolk � 0 R, 2 H, 1 E, 2 lob; Vermillion � 10 R, 13 H, 0 E, 6 lob.


Offensive Stats: Cole Andre � 2 for 3, 1 R, 1 rbi; Aaron Steele � 2 for 4, 2 R; Jordan Robinson � 2 for 4, 2 R, 1 rbi; Nick Anglin � 2 for 2, 2 R, 2 rbi; Brian Hansen � 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 rbi; Denny Kainrath � 2 for 3, 1 rbi; Cody Merrigan � 2 for 2, 1 R.

Game two was a similar affair, as Vermillion's Brian Hansen took a 7-1 score to win over the Yankton Reds.

Offensively: Nick Anglin scored a run on 1 for 1 batting, with 1 rbi; Jordan Robinson � 1 for 4, 2 runs; Brian Hansen � 3 for 4, 2 runs, 2 rbi; Cole Andre � 3 for 4, 1 rbi; Bennett Johnson � 2 for 3, 2 rbi; Ryan Kost � 1 for 2, 1 run, 1 rbi; Cody Merrigan � 1 for 1, 1 rbi.

Game 3 in the tourney was a 3-6 defeat to Mitchell. Jordan Robinson took the loss, giving up five hits, seven walks, registering six Ks.

Line scores: Mitchell � 6 R, 5 H, 0 E, 4 lob; Vermillion � 3 R, 7 H, 0 E, 5 lob.

Vermillion's offense consisted of: Aaron Steele � 1 for 3, 1 run; Jordan Robinson � 2 for 3, 2 runs; Brian Hansen � 1 for 2, 2 rbi; Cole Andre, Denny Kainrath, and Bennett Johnson each had a hit.

With the four games in three days, the pitching rotation placed Cole Andre to face Brookings in the fourth contest. The Vermillion nine built a 7-0 advantage after three innings, then watched it fade away during innings five and six, to a 7-7 tie, and lost in the final inning, 8-7.

Line scores: Brookings � 8 R, 12 H, 0 E, 7 lob; Vermillion � 7 R, 4 H 0 E, 4 lob.

Scoring for Vermillion's JV: Ryan Fischbach, Ryan Kost, and Bennett each scored a run without benefit of hits. Aaron Steele � 1 for 1, 2 runs, 1 rbi; Bennett Johnson � 2 for 3, 1 run, 2 rbi; and Nick Anglin � 1 for 3, 1 run, 1 rbi.

The JV Teener season record stands at 14-11.
