Post #1 baseball team goes 2-3 at Aberdeen
On the weekend of June 23-25, Post #1 faced five opponents in the three-day Aberdeen Invitational.

In game one, Eureka defeated Vermillion 5-4 in a regulation seven-inning game at the Aberdeen ball field. Kyle Mollet was charged with the loss as he gave up only four hits, but suffered through six team errors which created four unearned runs.

Line score: Eureka � 5 R, 4 H, 2 E, 4 LOB; Post #1 � 4 R, 4 H, 6 E, 7 LOB.


Offensive stats were: Ben Oberle � 1 for 3, 2 runs; Mollet � 1 for 3, 2 runs; Reid Meierkort � 1 rbi on a sac bunt.

Next, Post #1 faced Clark in a run rule shortened game with Vermillion claiming an 8-0 win. Zach Weiss tossed a two hitter, giving up two walks as the team committed two errors.

Scoring for Post #1: Reid Meierkort � 1 for 3, 2 RBI; Scott Morrison went 1 for 3, 1 run; Weiss � 1 for 2, 1 run; Ryan Gilbertson � 1 for 1, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Eric McPherson � 1 for 2, 1 run, 1 RBI; Ryan Husby � 1 for 2, 1 RBI; Jeff Donnelly scored twice.

Game three pitted Post #1 against Aberdeen and resulted in a 6-1 loss for the visitors. The only Vermillion score was Oberle, driven in by Meierkort.

On Sunday, Post #1 blasted Britton/Claremont 10-5. Jeff Donnelly started and went the distance, giving up 10 hits, but registering seven Ks, to claim the win.

Line score: Britton � 5 R, 10 H, 0 E, 8 LOB; Post #1 � 10 R, 10 H,1 E, 6 LOB.

Offensively: Ben Oberle � 2 for 3, 2 runs; Kyle Mollet � 1 for 2, 2 runs, 1 rbi; Reid Meierkort � 1 for 3, 1 run, 3 RBI; Scott Morrison � 1 for 4, 1 run, 1 RBI; Donnelly � 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Zach Weiss � 2 for 3, 1 run, 2 RBI; Ryan Gilbertson � 1 for 3, 1 RBI. Eric McPherson scored a run after being hit by pitcher.

The final game in the tournament matched DakotaLakes, MN against Vermillion. Ryan Gilbertson pitched a full seven innings, giving up seven runs on four hits, registering eight Ks. The team was charged with three errors, and Gilbertson was charged with the 7-3 loss.

Line score: DL � 7 R, 4 H, 1 E, 5 LOB; Post #1 � 3 R, 7 H, 3 E, 8 LOB.
