Take Thursday, June 22, when they hosted Dakota Valley in a double header.
There was a lot to say of the 10-9 squeaker in the first game, as Vermillion enjoyed an 8-2 lead after an inning, then had to scramble for a 9 -9 tie after five. They scored the winning run in the last inning for a 10-9 final.
Cole Andre went the distance, giving up seven hits, one walk, and three hit batters, registering two Ks.
Every member of the starting roster, except one, scored a run. Denny Kainrath scored twice as he reached base four times (two walks and two HP); Bennett Johnson had 2 runs and 2 RBI; Ryan Fishbach 2 for 4, 1 run; Nick Anglin 3 for 4, 1 run, 1 rbi; Andre, Chase Allen, and Cody Merrigan each scored once.
The second game also was played at Prentis Park but the result was a reversal of fortune as two home team pitchers were unable to contain the opposition to nine runs on four hits, recording no Ks, four walks, two HP, while their mates were charged with one error.
Bennett Johnson and Cole Andre scored the only Vermillion runs as Dakota Valley's pitcher tossed a no hitter.
The Vermillion JV teeners now have an 8-6 season record.
