U-14 Stingers respond with DH win June 28
The girls' U-14 Vermillion Stingers softball team responded to the losses at the Rapid City tournament by taking a double header against the SF X-plosion and Madison Flames played at the Sherman Park Complex in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, June 28.

Brianna Brinkman gave up two hits and a walk, registering 6 Ks in a winning, complete 8-2 game versus the X-plosion.

Brinkman also led the offense, scoring two runs on 1 for 3 at bats; Chelsea Houska went 2 for 3, two runs; Jenny Bye also scored twice with a RBI, as she went 2 for 3. Ashley Ouelette drove in three runs and scored a run on 1 for 3 batting. Ali True, who went 1 for 2, scored one run, and had 2 RBIs, had the other hit.


The second scheduled game was against the Flames. Vermillion sent Jenny Bye to the mound in a five inning game. The team continued their winning ways by scoring a 10-3 victory for the starter. Jenny gave up three hits while registering nine Ks.

With the Stingers leading the contest 5-0 after three innings, the Flames scored three runs in the top of the fourth, and the home team responded with two runs, followed with three in the fifth and final inning.

Scoring for the Stingers were: Ashley Ouelette � 1 for 2, two runs; Chelsea Houska � 1 for 1, two runs; Erica Johnson � 2 for 3, two runs; Jana Bye � 1 for 3, one run; and Jenny Bye � 1 for 3, one run, three RBIs.

Molly Lecates and Lindsay Robinet also each scored a run.
