U-14 Stingers split DH
In what must be the closest pitchers duels in a doubleheader, the girls' U�14 Stingers softball team faced the Burger King Queens and Sioux Falls Untouchables in Hartford on Wednesday, July 5.

Jenny Bye gave up no hits with three walks, registering 13 Ks in winning a very intense 3-2 game. Both of the runs were unearned, and her teammates mustered three runs on six hits.

Significant offensive stats: Brianna Brinkman � 1 for 3, one run; Ashley Ouelette was 1 for 2 hitting,with a run and an RBI; Donica Crichton scored a run on 1 for 2 at bats; Chelsea Houska was credited with an RBI on a fielder's choice; and Kayla Munger � 1 for 2, one RBI.


Line score: Queens � 2 R, 0 H, 1 E, 2 LOB; Stingers � 3 R, 6 H, 2 E, 5 LOB.

The second game was against the Sioux Falls Untouchables. Brinkman was on the mound. She gave up three runs on six hits, while registering five Ks. One run was unearned as the team committed two errors.

Line score: Untouchables � 3 R, 6 H, 1 E, 5 LOB; Stingers � 1 R, 4 H, 2 E, 5 LOB.

Scoring for the Stingers was: Chelsea Houska � 1 for 2, one run; and Ashley Ouelette, who was 2 for 2 with an RBI.
