The NFAA is the world's largest archery association with over 1,000 clubs and pro shots and state affiliates in all 50 states and an association in Europe. The NFAA hosts four national and over 20 sectional championship tournaments outdoor, indoor, marked 3-D and unmarked 3-D that draw over 5,000 archers annually.
This tournament in Yankton is expected to draw over 800 competitors and another 400 to 500 spectators. The economic impact to this area is conservatively estimated at over $1.5 million. Last year's event had 49 states and four foreign countries represented with a total of 883 participants.
Many special events are held throughout the week-long event, beginning with the 3-D on July 22 and 23 with an awards banquet Sunday featuring world-famous hunter and writer Chuck Adams.
The Pro-Am Tournament will be held Wednesday, July 26. The top professional archers from across the country will attend to vie for cash, prizes and points, each hoping to be named "NFAA" Shooter of the Year." The pro purses for both tournaments including manufacturers' contingency is over $75,000.
The entire event is held at the beautiful Lewis and Clark Recreation Area in the Gavins Point Unit. There are six five-star ranges that have been designed and built by staff and volunteers from the NFAA, Dakota Archery, Yankton Area Chamber and the Lewis and Clark Recreation Area.
Archers ranging in age from 5 to 85 will attend this event. The NFAA is excited once again to offer our members this geographically central location and the midwestern/Yankton hospitality they received at last year's event!
