The Fantasticks holds the record as the longest running musical in the world having run at the Sullivan Street Theatre in New York for 42 years. It is considered a classic of the American Music Theatre and has played in thousands of communities across the nation, and around the world, since it first debuted in New York in 1960.
The Fantasticks is a classic story of feuding families and a boy and girl that find romance in spite (or is it because of?) anything their fathers do to stop them. The show resounds with many beautiful melodies, such as Soon It's Gonna Rain and They Were You as well as the well-known Try to Remember. Along with music, The Fantasticks includes sword-fighting, abductions, comedy, romance and even gardening tips!
