The Sioux Valley Genealogical Society will present a class on Beginning Genealogy on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the Vermillion Public Library.
Presenters are Phyllis Knutson and Verlyss Jacobson. Knutson is a retired office worker of the Augustana College and a member of both the Sioux Valley Genealogical Society and the South Dakota State Genealogical Society. Jacobson is a retired teacher of middle school English and math with 35 years of experience in genealogy research and is a founding member of the Sioux Valley Genealogical Society.
Both adults and young adults ages 12 to 18 interested in learning skills for researching and recording family history are welcome to attend this event. A $2 fee will be collected on the day of class to cover the cost of materials.
Please contact the library for a reservation, as seating is limited. Participants will be eating lunch together and will either bring their own lunch or order and pay for lunch at registration (9 to 9:30 a.m.) to be delivered.
