‘Cakes and Choppers’

'Cakes and Choppers'
Bikers heading to Sturgis found a welcome respite from the miles of paved highway they had to travel last weekend.

They were served a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee served by the Vermillion Lions Club.

Brian Casey and Linda Grezenko rode tandem on the same bike to Sturgis last year from their home in Indiana. This year, they are returning to Sturgis, with Linda on her own set of wheels.

The couple, like so many other bikers from across the country, wouldn't miss the annual motorcycle rally.

"The people are just fantastic, and the countryside is beautiful out here," Brian said.

"We love the people who live out there," Linda said.

"This is Linda's second year out here, and last year, she got her own bike out there," Brian said. "She's been handling it really well."

He added that he used to reserve his annual major bike ride to Florida each day. Sturgis changed all of that.

"I'll always go to the Sturgis rally now," he said.

As an added bonus, Brian and Linda became acquainted with a nice couple from Sturgis who allows them to stay in their home's basement during the rally.

The local Lions asked diners for a free-will offering in exchange for their morning meals.

The proceeds from the pancake feed will go the Friends of the W.H. Over Museum.
