Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA) from Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, enjoyed their annual Out-and-About-Day trip on Thursday, Aug. 24.
The group toured the Sioux City Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center located at 900 Larsen Park Road. The center is a private, nonprofit institution built and operated by Missouri River Historical Development, Inc.
Beginning at the Enlistment Center the women visited impressive exhibits on science and medicine in 1804-06, Sergeant Floyd's burial, the election of Sergeant Patrick Gass, an evening with the Corps of Discovery and results of the journey.
The nearby Perkins Restaurant provided the site for lunch, after which the group returned to Vermillion. Transportation for the round trip was provided by Glennis Stewart, Judy Lofgren, and Esther Knutson.
The next service event for the Women of Trinity Lutheran Church will be their annual fund-raising dinner for the Senior Citizens' Center on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Center.
