Jennifer Dickenson has accepted a one-year assignment with AmeriCorps*VISTA in southwest Washington State beginning in September.
Dickenson is a 2001 graduate of Vermillion High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, with a double major in Theatre Arts and Global Studies.
Her position will include managing a drop-in teen center for Cispus Learning Center, catering to the educational needs of young people from low-income households, as well as developing arts programming for the Fire Mountain Arts Council. Jennifer is the daughter of Ross and Sandy Dickenson of Vermillion.
AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is an independent federal program organized in 1965 and provides staff to nonprofit organizations and public agencies to create and expand programs designed to bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty. Full time volunteers receive a living stipend and an educational award following service.
