The National Music Museum continues its Brown Bag Lunch free concert series on Friday, Aug. 11 at noon with A Schubertian Showcase, featuring Kathleen Solose from the University of Saskatchewan playing Franz Schubert's Sonata in B-flat Major, D. 960 on the museum's 1815 Th�m Grand Piano.
The Main Gallery at the USD Fine Arts School is exhibiting the South Dakota Governor's Biennial Art Competition. Called "Endless Possbilities," the exhibit features 43 works by artists across the state including Vermillion. The show will be on display through the end of the month with a reception on Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Vermillion Literary Project will be holding a poetry reading and poetry slam with featured writer Brian Bedard on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at the Coffee Shop Gallery. Bedard will kick off the evening, with the slam immediately to follow. Slam poets should bring at least three poems; prizes will be awarded to the winning slam poets. Everyone is welcome. The Wagner Alumni Center at USD is displaying Spirit and Nature of the Plains, an exhibition of photographs by alumnus Sandy Robertson, through Sept. 1.
