ROCS announces 2006 School Supply Project

ROCS announces 2006 School Supply Project
The Rural Office of Community Services, Inc. (ROCS) is providing a School Supply Program for low income families in a 20-county services area.

The program, which includes Clay County, will provide a $20 voucher per school aged child to purchase the necessary school supplies for the upcoming year.

Unfortunately, many low income families cannot afford to purchase all the needed school supplies for their children to participate in the class room. The School Supply Project will assist these families in getting the supplies they need to build a foundation of learning to help them gain knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.

ROCS will use an application process and recognize the 125 percent federal poverty guidelines as the criteria for eligibility. Eligible, school age children aged K-12, will be able to use a voucher to purchase school supplies including back packs, pencils, notebooks, folders, crayons, glue, scissors, rulers, tissues and other supplies. Many schools provide a list of the necessary supplies for each grade.

ROCS has established charge accounts at many local vendors so that the vouchers can be used locally as much as possible.

The following income guidelines will be used to determine eligibility.
