Twenty class members secured over $1,500 in pledges and sponsorships prior to the relay to provide for cancer research and programs in an event that celebrated life and survivorship through fireworks, music, contests, food and a children's carnival while honoring those impacted by the disease.
Class participation was spearheaded by second-year students Jana Larson, Priscilla Johnson and Kurt Schmeckpeper.

"The Relay for Life was definitely a success," said Larson. "It provided a wonderful opportunity for our class to raise money for a great cause and give back to the community. In addition, we were able to spend a memorable evening together as a class before going our separate ways for clinical rotations."
The event held at the Elk Point-Jefferson High School track raised over $26,000 to fight cancer and provide services to cancer patients and their families.
