Scrabble Scrimmage for adults and young adults ages 12-18 will be on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room. Come challenge others to Scrabble fun at this spelling social. Extra Scrabble boards and Scrabble dictionaries are welcome.
The fourth Annual South Dakota Festival of Books, presented by the South Dakota Humanities Council, is gathering national, regional, and South Dakota authors and readers to Sioux Falls on Sept. 22-24. The festival locations are the Down Town Holiday Inn, the Siouxland Library, the Orpheum Theater, and the Multi-Cultural Center. Vermillion Public Library Story Time is starting the week of Sept. 25. Toddler Story Time is scheduled for Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. The Preschool Story Time is scheduled for Mondays starting at 7 p.m., Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m. and Thursdays at 11:15 a.m. Participants must be pre-registered. Learn skills for researching and recording your family history. A workshop in Beginning Genealogy is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. Presenters, Phyllis Knutson and Verlyss Jacobson are from the Sioux Valley Genealogical Society. Call for reservations as seating is limited at 677-7060. A fee of $2 will be collected on that Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Participants may bring their own lunch or order a lunch at the time of registration.
