Cross country teams compete in Madison
Ten schools were represented at the John Collignon Invitational Cross Country Meet at the Madison Country Club, Friday, Aug. 25, with competition in both varsity and JV boys' and girls' divisions.

Class AA teams – SF Lincoln, Huron, and Mitchell dominated the top of the meet and no team points were kept, but of the nearly 60 individual boy runners the Tanager placer in the top 20 was Andrew Manning at sixth.

Placing 27th was JR Moore, and Broc Gauer was 29th, while Ryan Powell was close at 31st. Other VHS participants were Jeff Donnelly and Dexter Mehlhaf.

There were 77 runners in the JV boys' division. Best place for Vermillion was Brad Orr at 41st. Nick Britten (46th), and Isaac Druin (47th), were in the top 50 runners.

Also in the race were: Alex Card, Brody Stone, Tony Hubert, Skyler Tiahrt, and Sam Robinson.

For the girls, Kayla Jelen from SF Lincoln was first among the 47 runners. Tanager placers were: Katarina Gombosz – ninth, Emily Renner – 19th; Annie Roche – 24th, Janna Bye – 31st, and Krista Froke – 35th.

Six Tanager runners participated in the JV division – Steffani Donahue, Julie Renner, Hannah Pomersheim, Shannon Jepsen, Anna Moose, and Molly Manning.

The schools competing were: Garretson, Howard, Huron, Madison, Milbank, Mitchell, Oldham/Ramona/Rutland, SF Lincoln, Vermillion, and West Central.
