For the South Dakota women's cross country team, freshman Tianna Hurtado was the top collegiate finisher, taking second in 18:56.59. Running unattached, Ramsay Kavan set a course record of 17:58.61.
The USD men's team grabbed the top three spots. Aside from Wetering, freshman Rob Gregoire of Wakonda was second in 26:40.3 while Matt Yaggie of Mission Hill was third in 26:59.37. USD freshman Sean Fitzsimmons of Yankton was sixth in 27:15.52. John Coleman finished eighth in 27:35.32 with Josh Jeffery, ninth, in 28:13.44. Ben Schlosser was 11th in 28:43.78 with Josh Blue,12th, 29:16.58.

Led by Hurtado, the USD women's team placed five runners in the top 11. Sophomore Kelsey Maloney was fifth in 19:38.18 while sophomore Lexie Dunlop was sixth in 19:38.18. Sophomore Jessica Lundgren was 10th in 21:10.72 while redshirt freshman Heather Kuhlmann finished 11th at 21:16.63.
The Coyotes will compete at the Iowa State meet next Saturday, Sept. 9 in Ames, IA.
