Women's soccer team drops 2-1 decision
The South Dakota women's soccer team fell to 1-2-1 on the season after dropping a 2-1 nonconference decision to Central Missouri State (4-0) Sept. 3 at the Holiday Inn Express/CMSU Classic in Warrensburg, MO.

The CMSU Jennies scored two first half goals and held off a late charge by South Dakota to earn the win. USD's Brooke Youds scored an unassisted goal on a rebound put back shot as the Coyotes closed to 2-1 at the 81:32 mark. However the Coyotes had little time to finish the rally and dropped its second straight match.

CMSU scored first when Landri Schmitt scored an unassisted goal at the 8:47 mark. Later, Hazel Cox of the Jennies scored off an assist from Schmitt at the 12:01 mark.

Candace Martinez opened in goal for the Coyotes, going the first 17:49 and allowing both goals. Elizabeth Odorisio went the final 72:11, holding CMSU scoreless and recording two saves. USD outshot CMSU, 17-14, including 9-8 in the first half and 8-6 in the second half. USD also had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Youds led USD with four shots, two shots on-goal and a goal.

Casey Elizabeth of CMSU allowed one goal and had four saves in 90 minutes of action.
