Candidate forums to be presented
AARP South Dakota invites the public to watch, listen and make informed decisions when they vote Nov. 7.

AARP, South Dakota Public Broadcasting and the South Dakota Newspaper Association have joined to host a series of candidate forums to air on SDPB Television and SDPB Radio.

"We want our members, and the general public to be informed voters when they head to the polls on Election Day," says AARP State Director Sarah Jennings. "These forums will address issues important to older South Dakotans, and make it clear where candidates stand on those issues."


The forum schedule is:

Oct. 17, 8 p.m. – U.S. House

Oct. 19, 8 p.m. – Governor

All candidates for these offices have been invited to participate.

The one-hour forums will be held live in the SDPB Television studios. SDPB Radio will re-broadcast the program audio as follows:

Oct. 30, noon – PUC

Oct. 31, noon – Attorney General

Nov. 1, noon – U.S. House

Nov. 2, noon – Governor

SDPB Radio will also host candidates individually on South Dakota Forum throughout the month of October.�In addition, SDPB Television will broadcast programs featuring candidates running in state legislative races Fridays at 9:30 p.m. through Nov. 3.
