Coyotes ranked 14th, 11th in football polls

The South Dakota football team (4-1, 2-0 NCC) is ranked 14th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II coaches poll, released Tuesday.

The Coyotes are 11th in the D2football.com media poll. USD is also ranked 11th in the Don Hansen National Football Gazette and 15th in the College Sports Report Division II rankings.

Grand Valley State (5-0) remained the top team in the country with 27 first-place ballots in the AFCA poll.

The Coyotes, who dropped a 24-0 decision to Central Arkansas on the road on Sept. 30, return home to host Central Washington in USD's annual Dakota Day homecoming game. Gametime is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday at the DakotaDome.

USD has been ranked in both the AFCA and D2football.com national polls 18 straight weeks, dating back to the first week of the 2005 season.
