Frosh football team wins 26-0 over Yankton
On Thursday, Sept. 28 at the VHS field, the Tanager freshman team put up a fierce fight against a tough Yankton crew and shut down their opponents to 85 total yards offense. They held their leading rusher to only 31 yards.

"This was a big game for our freshmen," said offensive coach Jason Gault. "Offensively I thought our line did a nice job of creating holes for our runningbacks. The backs kept from fumbling and ran hard for the whole game."

"Our defense was pretty stingy today," said defensive coach Joe Delvaux. "The Vermillion/Yankton rivalry has always been a big one, so coming out on top of this battle was a huge boost of confidence for us. I'm proud of the way we played today."

Tanager offense, rushing: Jordan Robinson – 162 yards; Tanner Mart – 89 yards; Nick Mart – 62 yards; Kylen Freidel – 21 yards; Bennett Johnson – 17 yards. Passing: Freidel – 2 for 5/15 yards.

Individual defense results: Nick Mart – 8 solo Ts, 6 assists ; Josh Thin Elk – 4 Ts, 1 QB sack; Earl Kiertzne – 3 Ts, 1 int.; Tim Tigert – QB sack; Tom Amundson – pass intercept.

Their season record is 3-0.
