With the win, the junior varsity upped their record to 3-0 and remain undefeated for the season.
Andrew Eidem opened the scoring for the Tanagers in the second quarter as he scored on a 10-yard touchdown run. He also added the 2-point conversion to put the Tanagers up 8-7 at halftime. In the third quarter, Jackson Freidel scored on a 29-yard run and Eidem again added the 2-point conversion run to put the Tanagers up 16-7 going into the final stanza. Mike Oberle rounded out the scoring with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Defensively for the Tanagers, Heath Hubert led the team with six tackles. He was followed by Alex Anderson-Kahl (five tackles, two fumble recoveries and QB sack), Tony Thomas (five tackles, one pass interception), Cody Miller (five tackles), Kyle Nemec (four), Andrew Eidem (three), Mike Wilson (three), JR Moore (one), Jordan Moos (one), and Billy Kjelden (one).
Jason Huska, offensive coordinator, said, "We had another very consistent offensive game and again rushed the football very effectively. Our kids responded positively to being down 7-0 after the opening kickoff and we controlled the game from that point on the rest of the afternoon."
Roger Heirigs, defensive coordinator, said, "Other than the specialty team breakdown to open up the game, our defense played very solid football the rest of the way. We didn't give up any big plays and I thought we really hit well as a team against Lennox."
The junior varsity will next be in action as they travel to Yankton on Monday, Oct. 16 for a 4:30 p.m. contest against the Bucks.
