SDPB project empowers patients with special programs

Healthcare in America has problems, but a Yankton woman, Connie Wagner, is part of the solution. She will was honored on Oct. 6 for her efforts to improve healthcare.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting honored Wagner, president of the Komen South Dakota Affiliate, as a "Champion of Change" as part of the network's project based on the upcoming Remaking American Medicine series from PBS. In addition, program-related events are planned for Sioux Falls, Vermillion and Yankton.

Every year, Americans spend more than one trillion dollars on health care. Medical errors cause untold harm. The four-part national series Remaking American Medicine explores the problems and the solutions. The four one-hour programs are scheduled to air on SDPB Television at 9 p.m. on Thursdays, 19 and 26.
