Tanager cross country teams place high at SSC
Twenty teams – nine Class A and 11 Class B schools – were represented at the invitational meet in South Sioux City, NE, on Thursday, Sept. 28, with competition in both boys' and girls' divisions of varsity, JV, middle school and ninth- and 10th-grade sections.

Vermillion ran in the B Class and the girls fielded a complete team. Crofton was first and the Tanagers second in the 4K race.

Individual place results:


Katarina Gombocz third, Emily Renner 13th, Brandi Blue Arm 14th, Hannah Nehlich-Arrobba 15th, Sarah Day 17th, and Jana Bye 18th. There were 44 entrants in the race.

Only four girl runners were entered in the JV divsion. Sophie Nehlich-Arobba placed 18th, Molly Manning was 25th, Steffani Donahoe was 26th, and Julie Renner was 27th among 72 runners in the A and B divisions.

The middle school race had 50 girls entered. Vermillion placed second with Shelby Gregoire in third, Lexi Regnerus fifth, Beth Szymonski ninth, Cassie Donahoe 16th, Bailey Carlson 18th, and Sarah Szymonski 22nd, as the VMS entrants.

The boys' varsity team had the necessary members to be assigned a fourth place in the standings and the following individuals and their places among 60 runners were Andrew Manning eighth, Casey Carlson 21st, Ryan Powell 22nd, JR Moore 24th, Brad Orr 40th, and Jeff Donnelly 47th.

Among the ninth- and 10th-grade runners were Isaac Druin 34th, Skyler Tiahrt 38th, and Sam Robinson 39th.

Among 82 JV runners were DJ Donahoe 31st, Brody Stone 51st, and Tony Hubert 56th.

The Vermillion Middle School boys' team placed second and among 42 middle school runners, Nick Britten was fifth, Alex Card was ninth, Justin Moore was 13th and Christian Davis was 14th.
