The South Dakota women's soccer team had a two-game winning streak halted after an early goal by North Dakota held up in a 1-0 North Central Conference loss. The Coyotes fell to 8-7-1 overall and 5-5-0 in the NCC with the decision while UND improved to 9-8-2 on the season and 5-4-2 in league play.
The only goal of the game came at the 11:02 mark when UND's Cassie Lund scored her third of the season with Megan Tracy assisting on the score. USD actually out-shot North Dakota in the game by a 13-11 margin, including a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. However, it was not enough as senior goalkeeper Candice Martinez (Aurora, CO) took the loss after allowing the one goal while making three saves. This was South Dakota's final road game of the year.
The Coyotes will return to the USD Soccer Field for a two-game homestand to conclude the 2006 season next weekend, starting with a 3 p.m. contest on Friday, Oct. 27, against Augustana. South Dakota will then take on St. Cloud State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the final game of the year.
