Varsity boys’ golf team sweeps conference tourney

The four members of the Big 8 Conference gathered at the Madison Country Club Golf Course for the annual tournament on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The 18-hole contest involved both varsity and junior varsity teams from each school – Lennox, Madison, Vermillion, and West Central.

Final team standings were: 1. Vermillion (318); 2. Madison (340); 3. West Central (349); and 4. Lennox (392).

Medalist honors went to Jordan Boots of Vermillion who scored a 76. Other Tanager placers were: Alex Schaack – second (79); Aaron Steele third (80); tied at fourth was Broc Gauer (82), and Mikal Ustad (82).

The JV division also was won by Vermillion (344); Madison was second (374); the Trojan JV team was third (427); with Lennox fourth (451).

Medalist was the Tanagers' Eric Ustad (78). Individual Tanager places and scores were: Gabe Steinmeyer – second (82); Cole Andre – third (88); Ryan Scheidel – seventh (96); and Jimmy Lai 103 to complete the Vermillion contingent.
