Volleyball teams win at Canton

The VHS varsity volleyball team out pointed the Canton C-Hawks, winning a three-game match with scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-19 for the victory. The game was played in Canton on Thursday, Oct. 12.

In the preliminary matches, the freshmen played a 2-0 win over the C-Hawks, 25-18 and 25-19. Coach Kris Doty cited the following: Jenny Bye � 7 D, 4 K; Sierra Allen � 1 A, 6 K, 5 B, 4 D; Ashley Ouellette � 4 K, 1 D; Michelle Blythe � 8 SA, 2 D, 1 K; Molly LeCates � 3 K, 1 B, 7 SA, 4 D, 4 A.

The junior varsity won 2 -0, by 25-14 and 25-22 scores. Coach Lori Jerred recognized individual players for the match; Leading attacks: Rachel Odens � 2 A, 3 K, 1 B, 2 D; Alexa Walker � 4 K, 1 B; Sierra Allen � 2 K; Sara Kjose � 10 SA; Sara Bye � 3 K; and Hannah Korcuska � 9 D.

Head Coach Lenni Billberg was happy with the varsity's performance. "After a nine-day layoff, it was a great start. Krista Froke led our offense in its best outing of the year," she said.
