Family Business Retreat scheduled for Nov. 9-10
The South Dakota Family Business Association (SD-FBA) announces their first-ever Family Business Retreat to be held Nov. 9-10, 2006, at K Bar S Lodge in Keystone. The SD-FBA Family Business Retreat is a two-day event designed to build and reinforce communication systems within family-owned businesses and to help ensure that family members develop and maintain healthy relationships to optimize business performance.

Mike McGrann, assistant director of Babson College's Institute for Family Enterprising, will lead the educational sessions. Mr. McGrann serves as coordinator of outreach programs and teaches extensively in seminars to family businesses.

The family business retreat is one of the most important strategies used to help strengthen the communication system in a family-owned business. Studies have shown that successful family businesses regularly hold family business meetings and business retreats.

The retreat will feature a large group educational format and private family breakout sessions with facilitators. Additional benefits of this program will include opportunities to network and interact with other families in business. Each family-owned business will also begin to develop a template for holding their own family business retreats.

Program fees include one night's hotel room, all meals and handouts. Contact Beth Adamson, director of the South Dakota Family Business Association, at 605-782-3225 or online at www.usd.edu/fambus for more information and to register.
