Herseth seeks applications

U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth is accepting applications for spring and summer internships in her Washington, DC, Aberdeen, Rapid City and Sioux Falls offices. South Dakota natives who are current college students are encouraged to apply.

Herseth said, "Any young person with an interest in public policy or government is encouraged to apply for an internship in one of my offices. These positions will provide a close, firsthand look at how the federal government works, and how my office strives to serve the needs of South Dakotans."

The Washington internship will offer direct exposure to a wide range of duties in a Congressional office, including firsthand experience with many aspects of the federal government.

The state office internships include involvement in day-to-day contact with and outreach to South Dakotans who need assistance with a federal government program.

Herseth is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of moderate Democrats committed to fiscal discipline and strong national security, and is co-chair of the Rural Working Group, which is dedicated to raise the profile of issues important to rural America. She also serves on three committees vital to South Dakota's interest: Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs and Resources.
