Herseth said, "Any young person with an interest in public policy or government is encouraged to apply for an internship in one of my offices. These positions will provide a close, firsthand look at how the federal government works, and how my office strives to serve the needs of South Dakotans."
The Washington internship will offer direct exposure to a wide range of duties in a Congressional office, including firsthand experience with many aspects of the federal government.

The state office internships include involvement in day-to-day contact with and outreach to South Dakotans who need assistance with a federal government program.
