Faith Lutheran plans nativity
Readings of the Christmas story, an interactive city of Bethlehem, and an actual Living Nativity are all part of Faith Lutheran Churchs bi-annual event this weekend. The Living Nativity and Soup Supper will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, 5 to 7 p.m. in Maskell, NE.

Visitors will be greeted by Bethlehems census taker and will begin their tour by hearing a reading of the Christmas story inside the church. The 32nd Street Jazz Vocal Ensemble of South Sioux City, NE will perform Christmas favorites. Angels will then escort tour groups to the town of Bethlehem.

In Bethlehem, Roman soldiers will guard the gate as the town beggar makes his rounds. The city marketplace features a rug and basket maker, carpenter, and coin exchanger. At the far end of the city, the tour group will face the dreaded inn keeper calling those words of dismay, There is no room here.

Around the corner from the city marketplace lies the manger. Complete with live animals, Joseph and Mary watch over their little one as Jesus is honored by angels, shepherds, and the three wise men.

The tour is complete with a soup supper to warm weary travelers. Chili and broccoli cheese soup, bars, coffee and punch will be served.

This event is held every-other year, is a freewill donation event, and it is open to the public. For more information, you may call Linda Burcham at 402-692-3235 or Tammie Rasmussen at 605-624-3594.
