Gov. Mike Rounds asks that all flags in the state be flown at half-staff to honor President Gerald R. Ford.
"President Ford brought our nation through very troubled times," said Gov. Rounds.
"His steady, straight-forward leadership was exactly what we needed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of President Ford."
When a former President dies, national protocol is to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff for 30 days from the day of death.
