Novice extemporaneous contestants – sophomore Jiwen Li, junior Jane Reasoner and sophomore Alicia Enterman – placed first, second and third, respectively. Also, freshman Tyler Gutzman was a finalist.
A finalist in varsity domestic extemporaneous speaking was junior Amanda Barton; winning third place in the same category was senior Hannah Pommersheim.

Senior Gabe Steinmeyer was a finalist in varsity original oratory.
Juniors Reasoner and Maggie Green obtained third place in the Varsity Public forum division while Pommersheim and Barton received second place in varsity policy with a 3-1 record. Pommersheim was also awarded with second place in the varsity policy speaker category.
Enterman was responsible for a win in the Varsity Lincoln-Douglas category as well as first place in the Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Speaker category.
Li was also a winner, but in the Novice Lincoln-Douglas category; she also received first place in her respective speaker category.
Overall, it was a satisfactory weekend for V.F.D. (Vermillion's Finest Debaters).
