VHS gymnasts at SF Roosevelt triangular

The Tanagers finished behind Sioux Falls Roosevelt and ahead of West Central in the triangular gymnastics meet held on Dec. 14. The Class AA Roughriders scored 132.4, while Vermillion tallied 114.5 and West Central had 98.3 points for third place.

The JV total scores were: Roosevelt – 86.40, Tanagers – 55.25 and Trojans – 41.75.

Coach Mark Upward's comments: "Highlights for the evening were Tristen Upward's, Elly Melby's and Amber Walker's floor routines. Each of the three Tanager gymnasts added two flip-flops and a somersault to their routines. On uneven parallel bars, Sidney Mount and Amber Walker both added kips to their routines making a big jump that will soon be reflected in their bar scores. DeNell Dykstra led the beam routines for the Tanagers as she got her third 'beam stick' of the year. DeNell has yet to fall in her beam routines this year."
