December students of the month named
Ariel Hofman and A.J. Manning were named as the Vermillion High School December Students of the Month. As recognition of their leadership, these seniors will receive a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust of Vermillion.

"Ariel is one of a select few students who actually seems to enjoy being challenged academically. She is undoubtedly one of the best students I have ever been associated with," according to her faculty endorsement. Her career goal is to become a doctor.

She has varied extra-curricular involvement including gymnastics, Student Council, dance team National Honor Society, volleyball and Girls State. Her parents are Ray and Pam Hofman.

Manning's activites include show choir, Natural Helpers, cross country, track, Student Council and National Honor Society. He plans to study business management at The University of South Dakota, Black Hill State University or Dakota State University.

His faculty recommendation indicates that "A.J. is willing to extend a welcome to new students, or reach out to others who are dealing with difficulties. He embodies all that we hope to see in a well-rounded student." His parents are Mike and Linda Manning.
