On Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. in Sletwold Hall at the W.H. Over Museum, John and Susan McNeill of Springfield along with Dave Napier of Sioux City, will present a musical program to benefit the W.H Over Museum. The program entitled "American Music: Across the Spectrum" will include music from the eras of the 20s, 30s, 40s and the 50s and will include gospel music as well as early folk styles.
The McNeills are regular performers at Gayville Music Hall and have lent their talents to programs at the museum at several Christmas festivals, including the most recent on Dec. 3, as well as performing at the Lewis and Clark Festival and at benefit auctions. Susan performs by playing the bass guitar; John performs as almost a one-man band by playing the guitar, harmonica, banjo, and drum. Both McNeills sing and have a huge repertoire of songs. Dave Napier is a saxophonist unmatched in talent in the area. He has also performed at the Gayville Hall as part of the McNeill ensemble. John has created special programs to honor the music of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. These shows have proven to be popular wherever they are performed and they have traveled to Sioux Falls, Brandon, Lake Okoboji and Vermillion.
Admission to the musical performance, which will begin at 8 p.m., will be $15; refreshments will be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit the W.H. Over Museum.
